Frequently asked questions
What is the Discord message character limit?
Standard Discord messages are capped at 2,000 characters. Discord Nitro raises that limit to 4,000 characters. Separate limits apply elsewhere: 190 characters for the About Me bio, 32 for a username, and 1,024 per embed field for bots.
Will splitting break my markdown or code blocks?
No. The splitter prefers safe break points in order — blank lines first, then paragraph breaks, then sentence boundaries — before falling back to a hard cut. It also tracks fenced code blocks so a chunk never ends inside one, which is what mangles colored code snippets in naive splitters.
Does the tool send my text anywhere?
No. All splitting happens locally in your browser. Your message text never leaves your device and is not logged or stored.
Can I number the parts automatically?
Yes. The options panel can append numbering such as 1/5 or Part 1 at the start or end of each chunk, which makes long posts far easier to follow when other people are talking in the channel.
Why does Discord say my message is too long when it looks short?
Emoji, custom emoji, and mentions expand into longer raw text than they appear. A custom emoji is sent as something like <:name:1234567890>, and every character in that counts. Paste the real text into the splitter and the live counter shows the true length.
What is the best way to post very long content in Discord?
For anything over a few thousand characters, split it into numbered parts and post them in sequence so the order stays readable. If the content is reference material rather than conversation, consider a forum post or a pinned message instead, so it does not scroll away.
